KIWI’s first annual Beyond the Lunchbox Digital Conference took place August 3–9, 2020. This weeklong event showcased better-for-you brands while teaching parents the big ideas and practical solutions behind sustainability, nutrition, wellness, and kid’s lunch. With 11 video presentations and over 1,300 attendees, the event was a resounding success!
Parents loved Beyond the Lunchbox; 97% rated the digital conference as excellent or good. Attendees enjoyed the conference for its uniqueness, speaker expertise, and topic variety.
Even some kids got in on the learning. One attendee had this to say, “I loved how concise the information was and the presenters’ abilities to connect with the audience. I watched along with my two kids and they were not bored at any time, they were as excited as I was to watch and learn.”
For busy parents juggling multiple responsibilities, having the sessions available for an extended period was a big perk. “I loved that the videos were available whenever during that day, I mostly watched them late at night while the rest of my family was sleeping,” said one attendee. Many loved the variety of topics that fit into the overall theme of health and sustainability. This event helped parents expand their knowledge and raise healthier families during the crucial back-to-school time.
Some highlights from the event included Dr. Dorothy Hitchmoth’s presentation on screen time and the connection between eye health and nutrition in her session, “Prevention of Vision Loss Starts in Childhood,” sponsored by EyePromise. Author and NY Times columnist Sophie Egan wowed the crowd with her talk, “Become a Food Waste Warrior: Tips and Tricks for Saving Money and the Planet One Carrot Top at a Time.” Parents also learned from Country Life’s panel of experts in their session, “Supporting Your and Your Child’s Immune System From Within.” With so much new and important information shared in each session, almost everyone who tuned in viewed the sessions more than once.
